I have been an avid scrapbooker for years, but since the summer of 2010, have been obsessed with card making. I have been doing dry embossing for a few years and this year my hubby bought me a heat embosser for Christmas! What a smart man. I didn't know what embossing was until I took a mother's day scrapbook lesson on embossing and "new techniques" and immediately bought my Cuttlebug. I am still learning new and wonderful techniques and my new challenge will be on Embossing Resist. A You Tube channel that I have found many techniques and ideas from is Stamp TV. The one I found on Embossing Resist can be found here.
For this card, I chose to use a dry embossing technique. I used the Musical Flourish embossing folder by Cuttlebug. When I emboss, I love to use Color Core Cardstock by Co'ordinations. After I emboss the image, I use a file and lightly file the embossing to reveal the other color. It makes the work really stand out.
My card base is 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" and is cut from Recollections Cardstock. The mat was cut from white cardstock at 5 1/4" x 4". The patterned paper mat is cut from Recollections and is called Blue Ditsy and is cut at 5" x 3 3/4."
The scrap embossed strip is cut at 5 1/4" x 1 1/2" and I used Co'ordinations Color Core Cardstock in Celesta Blue. I then used a nail file and gently filed across the top so the lighter blue would come through and bring out the white and lighter blue on the card base. The underlining white mat is cut at 5 1/4" x 1 3/4".
The onesie comes from the Cricut Sampler Cartridge and is found on p. 32 of the manual. I cut it at 3 1/2" and chalked the edges to give it more dimensional. I added some foam tape and a star sticker from my stash. I also added 2 blue buttons.
The sentiment was stamped using my Studio G chocolate brown ink and both sentiments come from the Stampin' Up Occasional Quotes set.
I have also added some projects I have used in the past using my dry embossing method and the Divine Swirls embossing folder.
I am also going to be giving away a Cuttlebug Embossing Folder called Victoria. Don`t forgot to leave me a comment for a chance to win. Please include your name and your email address so I can contact you! I will draw for this prize on Monday, April 2nd, 2012 and the winner will have one week to claim their prize. I love your cards! I will definitely try the resist technique. I'm learning something new so far at each stop, and making a list for my next trip to Michael's! I'm brand new to embossing. I've barely used heat embossing, and JUST got a Cuttlebug this week. So, I'm really excited about this hop and I'll be featuring my first project here as well.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
