Scraps Card #17 Nuts About You

Valentines day is in the air....And so is the drive to get rid of these scraps.  I haven't posted anything in over a week but my husband and I got an early Valentine's Day gift.  We are expecting baby #3 in September and I have been super tired (and sick).  Maybe it's the full time job or my 2 other children.  Finally after 2 weeks I finally had the energy to turn on my cricut!
I used the new Cricut Craft Room to weld the acorn on page 32 from Create a Critter.  I wanted to make a "manly" Valentine's Card for my wonderful husband.  I sized the acorn to 4 1/2" and then welded it together on the side. I used a scrap of this brownish fall-like patterned paper and had enough at 4 1/2".  I ran it through my Cuttlebug using the Seeing Spots embossing folder. 
The squirrel is also found on p.32 and was cut at 3 1/2".  I cut him from black cardstock, and then used various browns for layer 1 and 2.  For layer 3 I used the same patterned paper found on the acorn top.  I used dimmensionals to give a 3D effect.  I added a little scrap of red ribbon and adhered it using a Glue Dot.  I also added some faux stitching around the acorn and the squirrell using my white Gelly Roll pen and my Black Gelly Roll.  At our Dollar Store I found 120 Valentines Day heart bling for $1 and used one of the larger hearts for the squirrel so it looks like he is holding it. 
For the sentiment inside the card, I cut at 2 1/2" also from p. 32.

Scraps Card #16 Happy Birthday Caterpillar

Back again with another scraps card.  I have officially reached the half way point of this series with 15 more cards to go!  This is also helping put a dent in my pile of scraps....
For this card I kept it simple but cute for a child's birthday.  The card base is cut at 5 1/2" x 4 1/4".  The mat (pink) is cut at 5 1/4" x 4" and the patterned paper mat is cut from 5" x 3 3/4".  I have had this patterned paper for awhile.  I can't remember what paper stack it was from but it was all baby girl patterned paper.  I loved it because some papers were flocked while others had glitter.  I had enough from this scrap to make 4 cards!
The caterpillar and frame are both from the Create a Critter cricut cartridge.  The caterpillar is found on page 54 and is cut at 3".  I cut the caterpillar with black cardstock, layer 1 using the same green found on my card base and layer 1 is from a Basic Grey scrap that I had lying around that actually matched the pink in the patterned paper. 
The frame is found on page 60 (cow) and is cut at 3 1/2" from ivory cardstock and again at 3 3/4" using the green.  I cut this using phrase shift.
To finish the little guy off I added the Happy Birthday sentiment using my Studio G lime green ink and added some green bling! Viola!

Scraps Card #15 Snowman Card

Sorry it's been a while since I posted ANYTHING.  I started back to work this Monday after the Christmas break and I have been trying to adjust to my post two week vacation. 
For my card today, I chose to use a lot of scraps that I had lying around.  After Christmas I had gone to Michaels and purchased these beautiful sprags for 49 cents.  Everything for this card was purchased for less than $5.00 and it made enough for 3! I probably have enough scraps left over for a smaller card.
The sketch is from Mojo Monday's and is an older sketch #199.
The card base was 5" x 7" and cut from a dark blue gray cardstock from Recollections.  The mat is also from Recollections and measures 4 3/4" x 6 3/4".  This was a scrap I had lying around for quite a while and it was a large piece that needed to be used.   I used my Versa Mark and Inkadinkadoo's Snowflakes A Plenty stamp set and heat embossed with Recollections Glitz Embossing Powder.  This gave the snowflakes a slight glimmer. The frame is from the cricut Cartridge Lacy Labels and is the Beautiful cut.  It was cut at 4" from White cardstock.
The snowman image is from the Close to My Heart Frosty Friends stamp set and was stamped using Memento tuxedo ink and colored with my Prisma Colored pencil crayons. After I colored the image, I sprayed it with my own homemade Glimmer mist using Deco Art Metallic Blue paint and Pearl Effects copper powder.
The sentiment on the inside of the card is also by Close to My Heart and is from the Festive Thoughts stamp set.
The strip at the bottom measures 1 1/2" x 6 3/4" and was punched and adhered to the mat.  I then took some blue shimmer ribbon by Celebrate It and adhered it to the strip on the mat.  I then added bits and pieces of the sprags, and added some lace ribbon and on 1 card, some bling that I got at the dollar bin at Michaels.  As I said, 3 cards for $5.00!!!

Scraps Card #14 Happy Birthday

Back again as promised with Scrap Card #14 in the Scraps Cards Series.  Remember there will be 31 of these cards.  Here is number 14!
This is my take on the Die Cuttin` Divas Birthday Challenge Sketch. 
I used my Create a Critter cricut cartridge and cut the cupcake found on page 36 at 3".  I used the Cupcake Shift, Layer 1, 2, and 3 all using the shift key.  I added red stickles to the cherry. 
The sentiment is from Stampin' Up Occasional Quotes set.  I added 3 cute little buttons as well that had similar colors in the card with the green, hot pink, and orange!

Scraps Card #13 Wishing You a Warm Nose

Card #13 out of 31...It is amazing how quick it takes scraps to add up.  I am glad this series is helping me "clean out my little pile of scraps."
For card #13, I had enough of the patterend paper to make 2 cards.  I used the Die Cutting Divas Birthday Challenge sketch for my inspiration.  I will be back later with a cupcake card for this challenge but first wanted to get rid of some of my Christmas scraps with this card.  I also got these really cute stickers from my Secret Santa at work! 
The card base measures 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" and is from the Soda Pop cardstock pack by Recollections.  Mat #1 (red) measures 5 1/4" x 4" and is a scrap from The Paper Company that I had lying around.  The green mat measures 3 3/4" x 3 1/2" and I used my Stampin' Up round corner punch.  The strip of patterned scrap paper measures 3 3/4" x 1 1/4" and is adhered to a red border (same as the previous mat) measuring 3 3/4" x 1 1/2".  I also used my Recollections border punch on it.
The cup of cocoa comes from the Winter Frolic cricut cartridge (page 59) and was cut at 3".  I used the mug, mug shift, layer and layer shift.  I used dimensionals as well to make it stand out.
The circles at the bottom which hold the dimensionals stickers were cut from George & Basic Shapes at 1 1/4".
The stickers were a gift from my Secret Santa and are cute cute!  They are from Recollections.

Scraps card #12: Feeling Sick?

Well I can finally move my neck but only slightly.  I don't know if it is the way I slept but I have had heat on it for the past 2 days and slowly I am able to move it a bit more.  We'll see what tomorrow brings.  I had enough energy to make 4 cards today using my scraps and here is what I came up with. 
I have had this checkered black and white paper for years and have really hated it but didn't want to toss it out.  I thought that as soon as I did that, I would finally find a project that I could use it for.  Finally that day came today when I was flipping through my Just Cards cartridge and seen the Feeling Sick? Milk It phrase. 
I used the Just Because cricut cartridge.  Honestly, I don't use this cartridge enough!!!!  I cut the apple card shown on page 46 of the manual at 5 1/2" on Kraft cardstock from Recollections.  I cut the border using Apple Shift also at 5 1/2" using black cardstock.  I used the milk bottle and phrase on page 32 of the manual.  The milk jug I cut first on black cardstock using Layer 1 at 5".  I then cut Layer shift on white cardstock also at 5".  The phrase was cut at 2 3/4" using red cardstock.
I then used my Create a Critter Cartridge p. 60 for the cow.  I cut the Cow, Layer 1, Layer 2, and Layer 3 all at 3".  I then chalked around all cuts to give it a little more shading. I then added Glossy Accents to the nose and utters!
The black checkered mat was cut at 3 1/2" x 5".  I then cut a black border at 1 1/2" x 5 1/2" and punched it using a laced edge border punch.  The red patterned paper was also in my scraps stash and was cut at 1" x 5 1/2" and was added on top of the black mat. 
In the inside of the card I added the Milk bottle and used my Plantin Schoolbook Cricut Cartridge and cut out It! at 1". 
A cute little card to brighten someone's day who isn't feeling the best but could "milk it!"

Scraps card #11: Nuts about U

I can tell I'm going to be addicted to action wobbles.  The first time I had seen them used was from Mary at Cardz TV.  If you are not a fan or haven't checked out her blog....DO IT!  She is incredibly talented and has beautiful projects and ideas.
For this card, I used a left over scrap that I had from a 2012 calendar I made for my desk.  I had enough left over for 4 cards!  This project for myself is really help build up my card collection to give away!
The card base is from Kraft cardstock and measures 5 1/2" x 4 1/4".  The second mat (blue) ranges from 5 1/4" x 4 and in other cards is 5 1/4" x 3 1/4". 
The dark brown mat is 5 1/4" x 2 1/4" and in some cards I used a border punch.  In other's I just left it blank and added a brown ribbon from Straight 'N' Narrow by Offray.  The patterend paper measures 5 1/4" x 1 3/4".
The squirrel is from the Create A Critter cartridge page 32.  I cut the squirrel, layer 1, 2, 3 and the sentiment.
The phrase is cut at 2 1/2".
This card was made totally by scraps minus the card base.
I also added my homemade action wobbles to the little guy!  Everybody in love gets butterflies don't they when they see the person they love....either that or they want to literally throw nuts at them!

Scraps card #10: "Hoppy" Birthday

Another day, another card.  I am slowly getting closer to my goal of 31 scrap cards.  The scrap in this card was the patterned paper in the strip and I had enough to make 3 of these birthday cards.
The card base is a regular A2 size card (5 1/2" x 4 1/4").  The mat is 5 1/4" x 3 1/2" with the red border measuring 5 1/4" x 2 1/4".  I used my Recollections border punch on both sides of the mat.  The inside patterned paper strip measures 5 1/4" x 1 1/2" and I added some matching thing green ribbon that I had in my ribbon collection.
The frog is from the Create A Critter cartridge and is cut at 3 1/4".  I also cut all layer 1, 2 and 3 at 3 1/4".  Our Michaels does not carry action wobbles so I went on You Tube and found a video on how to make my own!  I had gone to Michaels over the Boxing Week sales and found this huge roll of craft wire for 50 cents!  I don't think I'd get 1 action wobble for that!
So I made a homemade action wobble and also hand printed the sentiment "Hoppy" Birthday.

Scraps card #9: Happy Birthday Fishes

Back again.  This card is made from 2 left over scraps that I had lying around and they were a perfect fit in getting rid of them.  The card base is cut from white cardstock at 5" x 6 1/2".  The mat is cut at 4 3/4" x 6 1/4" from patterned paper. 

The tag is cut from the Once Upon a Princess cartridge on p. 55 at 1 1/2" and again at 1 1/4".  The fishbowl and all it's accessories are cut at 4" from the Create a Critter cartridge, page 43.  I also cut some bubbles found on page 42 of Create a Critter at 3". I added Glossy accents to the bubbles.

The fish is cut at 1 1/4" and is popped up on pop-dots!  The sentiment was done on the computer.

Scraps Card #8: A Rainbow Birthday

Back with another Scraps Card.  Remember I will be doing 31 of these and here's number 8.
For the 8th card, I used my Once Upon A Princess Cricut Cartridge.  The scraps that I used today was teh patterned cloud paper, left over from my K & Company stash ( I believe it was from the Best of K & Company paperstack).  Other scraps I used where everything for the rainbow.
The card base is cut from turquois cardstock from Recollections at 5 1/2" x 4 1/4".  The white mat measures 5 1/4" x 4" and the mat of patterned paper measures 5" x 3 3/4".
The rainbow is found on page 55 of the Cricut manual and is cut at 2 3/4".  I cut the rainbow, the Rainbow shft, layer 1 and layer 1 shift.
I added stickles to the stars and the clouds!
The sentiment is from Occasional Quotes by Stampin' Up and was stamped using Memento Tuxedo black ink.
Easy peasy!

Scraps card #7: He Shoots He Scores

My little boy loves LOVES loves hockey.  He breathes, eats, and sleeps hockey.  And he's been like this since he was 1.  In less than two months Denver turns 4 and he has just graduated to "big boy" skates from his bobsled skates.  Needles to say, this is a triumphant goal for him and according to him, he can now play hockey. 
So for my next scraps card, I wanted to use my new Cricut Go Canada cartridge and a scrap piece of hockey paper for this card to celebrate his graduation to big boy skates. Everything on this card is made from scraps except for the card base.
The card base is from Recollections Jewel cardstock and measures 5 1/2" x 4 1/4".  The mat measures 5 1/4" x 4" and was a scrap piece of blue that matched the strip of hockey paper.  The hockey paper was left over from Denver's 2nd birthday scrapbook pages.  I think it was by Karen Foster but don't quote me on that.  The strip measures 1 1/2" x 5 1/4".  I added a strip of burgendy ribbon to it as well. 
All cuts are from the Cricut Go Canada cartridge. This is a new cartridge and I love it.  It's a must have for any Canadian scrapbooker!!!!  They even have a Tim's cup!!!
The skate is found on page 27 and is cut at 2".  I used all layers for the skate. The stick and puck are found on p. 24 and are cut at 3 1/2" and the phrase he shoots he scores is found on p. 25 and is cut at 1 1/2".  I also used Inkadinkadoo's Snowflakes A Plenty and my versamark and stamped some snowfloakes on the background of the blue mat.  I then added Icicle stickles to the outsides of the snowflake and one in the middle to give it a little shimmer!

Scraps card #6: Peace Christmas card

It seems like Christmas just finished and I'm starting my stash for next year.  Talk about your overachieving!!!
This card layout was inspired totally by the paper and when I looked through my stamp collection and realized I haven't used this reindeer yet, I knew it had to be done!
So far, I am loving this recycling of old scrap paper. It's helping get rid of the pile up in my scrap room!  I also recycled some bling off of a Christmas card....
The card base is 5 1/2" x 4 1/2".  The strip measures 3" x 5 1/2".  The inside strip measures 2 3/4" x 5 1/2".  The red mat measures 2 1/2" x 3 1/4", with the mat behind it measuring 3" x 3 3/4" and punched with a border punch.
I embossed the deer & sentiment using Recollections Snow embossing powder. 
The stamp for the reindeer comes from the Christmas Silhouettes stamp set by Inkadinkadoo, while the sentiment is from Inkadinkadoo as well but their Warm Holiday Wishes stamp set.

I made 2 variations on this card and just changed the strip mat size on one of them.  The patterned paper is from DCWV Tis The Season and Recollections Naughty and Nice paperstacks.  Lucky for me I had enough scraps for 2 cards! For the red flowers, I saved them from a Christmas card that we recieved this year.  They were too precious to throw out!
