Star Card

Can you feel Christmas in the air?  It's getting cooler in New Brunswick and on those beautiful clear nights I love how the sky is littered with stars.  I wanted to make a very quick and simple card and show the beauty of the star.  I chose to do a CAS A2 size card using the star found on p. 71 of the Winter Frolic cartridge.  It is found under Layer shift.
The star is cut at 8 1/2" from Gold patterned paper by G.C.D Studios and is called #065 Ups and Downs.
The sentiment is from Close to My Heart D1179 Festive Thoughts and was stamped using Versamark and White Embossing powder by Recollections.
The blue snowflake patterned paper is from last years Mat Stack by K & Co Elizabeth Brown called EB Visions of Christmas.
To finish the inside of the card I used another gold star cut at 4" and my EK Success scallop border punch. The inside sentiment is also from Close to My Heart D1179 Festive Thoughts and was stamped using Tuxedo Black Memento ink.

Materials Used:
*A2 size card
*Cardstock by Recollections
*Blue Patterned paper by K & Co Elizabeth Brown Visions of Christmas.
*Gold Patterned paper G.C.D Studios  #065 Ups and Downs.
*Winter Frolic Cricut Cartridge by Provocraft (p.71) cut at 8 1/2" using layer shift and 4" for inside

The 12 Tags of Christmas Series: Tag 1-Santa & Boy

Welcome to 12 days of Christmas tags.  Last year for the first time I made all of my gift tags that I put on relatives presents.  Needles to say they were a huge hit and most of the people I gave them too requested orders for them.
This year I wanted to give you a push (or a tap) to making your own tags.  Every day I will post a tag with details on how I made it so you can try it yourself!  Remember I made ALL of the tags featured from my Christmas scraps and cardstock scraps.  It's a great way to get rid of all of that clutter in such an easy way.
So enough chatter from me.  Here is tag 1 out of 12....
The image is from  A Child's Year Cricut Cartridge and can be found on p. 56 using Christmas Shift at 2 1/2".
The patterned paper is from the DCWV 'Tis the Season paper pad.

Materials Used:
*Tag base at 3 1/4" x 4"
*Mat 1 cut at 3" x 3 3/4"
*Mat 2 (patt. paper) cut at 2 3/4" x 3 1/2"

Card & Tag Holly Set with Gift Box

Good morning crafting friends.  I wanted to show the details for one of the projects I made totally from scraps that I've had lying around.  For my project I chose to use the CCR Exclusives from Stretch Your Imagination.  I used the card and tag feature and the holly image from Stretch Your Imagination and the box was made from Sweet Tooth Boxes
Here is my finished product.
I cut 6 cards and 6 tags from the Stretch Your Imagination Exclusive.
The tag was cut at 3 1/2" from Kraft cardstock.  The white layer was cut at 4" and the holly was cut at 1 1/2".  The card and layer for the card were both cut at 4", the holly was cut at 2". I embossed the white card layer using my Cuttlebug Musical Flourish embossing folder.

The box was cut from Sweet Tooth Boxes on p. 61 at 8".  I used the window lid and added a piece of acetate so you could see through it.  The box bottom was cut from green cardstock, the top from white. The holly was also cut at 2" from Stretch Your Imagination.
I added red Glitter Glue by Studio G to the holly berries.  The sentiments are by Recollections. I also inked around all holly leaves with green ink by Stampin' Up.

Materials Used:
*Sweet Tooth Boxes cut at 8" and window lid at 8"
*Stretch Your Imagination tag (p.80) cut at 3 1/2", layer cut at 4"

Christmas Scraps-A personal Challenge

I, like every other crafter, hoard my scraps.  This is just a small taste of my Christmas scraps.
So I have decided to challenge myself.  My goal is to quickly or slowly (however I get there) dwindle down this pile by December 24th.  My goal is on that day to have them ALL gone.  In a perfect crafting world this will happen.  I have already told myself I am not allowed to by any Christmas paper until I get some of my paper pads used up a bit (and that is an extremely hard challenge!)
So every week (maybe a few times a week) I will post some projects under Christmas Scraps challenge to show you what I've been creating and crafting!  And hopefully by December 24th this pile will be gone! As I said, this is just some of the pile....
What do you do with your scraps???

Cut It Up #6: Button Time!

Welcome to another challenge at Cut It Up!  This is an exciting challenge and a great time to use those buttons you've been hoarding!  Today is Button Day!  The challenge is to make any kind of project as long as you incorporate at least two buttons and don't forgot the die-cut!  This challenge starts today and ends November 28th, Noon EST.

For my card, I chose to use my Cricut Sweethearts cartridge.  I don't use this cartridge enough and don't know why as it has really cute images!
I wanted to create a card using the Gumball machine found on p. 38.  I cut the shadow, blackout and layers, all using Cricut Craft Room at 4 1/2".  The blackout feature I cut using a piece of acetate that comes off of the Cricut mats.  For the gumballs, I used buttons!  Who doesn't love Button Gumballs...haha (Saves on cavities...)

Materials Used:
*A2 long card
*Cardstock by Recollections
*Patterned paper from Sweet Nectar K & Co Mat Stack
*Sweethearts Cricut Cartridge by Provocraft (p. 38) at 4 1/2" using shadow, blackout, layers

3D Pretty Princess Purses

Hello blogging friends and crafters.  I am so excited to share my first post as being a Guest Design Team Member for My Cricut Craft Room.
This week, our assignment for Theme Day Thursday was to create a 3D Pretty Princess Purse.  This challenge came at an amazing time in our house as my 2 year old daughter is well into her "Princess" stage.  I have watched every Disney Princess movie for the past 5 days and she shows no time of slowing down.  She is also loving putting on lipgloss and glittery nail polish. So I wanted to include those ideas in her purse. For my project I used Once Upon a Princess and Flower Shoppe.
Here is my project...
For the purse I used the Once Upon a Princess cartridge.  The purse was cut at 11 1/2" from pg. 66 using patterned paper from DCWV Nana's Nursery paper pad. I inked around the ivory handle with Studio G Pink ink.
The flower was cut from at 2 1/4" (white inked with pink), 2" (pink) 1 3/4" (ivory) and 1 1/4" (glittered) from heart 2 found on p. 16 of the manual.  I inked around the larger 2 flower with Studio G pink ink and for the last flower added pink stickles to it.  I also added a piece of left over pink ribbon I had.
The crown is found on p. 76 and was cut at 1 3/4".  Since my daughter's name is Aslynn I decided to cut at "A" from p.44 from the same pink paper found in the flower.  I also added 3 different colored bling jewels to it and Icicle stickles.
In the purse I added some "girly" Princess elements.

I went through my patterned paper last night and found this beautiful simple design from Doodlebug Designs.  I paired it with a few mats and stuck to the simple color scheme.  Here is the finished product

Materials Used:
*A2 size card
*Cardstock by Recollections
*Patterned paper by Doodlebug Designs Inc. White Floral Fancy
*Once Upon A Princess p. 52 for tags (Red @ 3 1/2, white @ 3 1/4, Black @ 3")

Gingerbread Man Layout

We had snow today in New Brunswick.  Couldn't believe it, especially the amount!  So of course, it forced me to start making some Christmas crafts and I put together this Gingerbread LO for my son!  We have so many traditions in our house and of course, baking gingerbread dolls and the house is one of them.
This is my son's first Christmas (back in 2008) and I finally put together this page today!

George and Basic Shapes circles at 4 1/2" (patterned paper from stash) and 4" (white)
